Description
Digital-to-Analog Converter with Preamp Function (featuring variable output, analog inputs, and DIGM control)
A digital-to-analog converter with outstanding sound quality that goes beyond conventional digital audio. It seamlessly combines warmth, dynamics, precision, and three-dimensionality for a true musical experience.
Key features of this device:
Jitter-free and uncompromising SUPERLINK connection with the master clock in the DAC ensures natural, precise playback with outstanding spatial imaging.
SPDIF and USB inputs designed for our PureMedia server or computer audio.
The DAC features CI coupling and a feedback-free LEF single-ended Class A output, enabling a vibrant, richly detailed sound reproduction.
Lossless volume control for compatible B.M.C. power amplifiers using DIGM gain adjustment.
Additionally, it offers 3 analog inputs (both balanced and unbalanced) and a balanced output. The volume can be controlled via either the variable output or lossless DIGM in combination with B.M.C. power amplifiers.
USB 2 HiRes: True High-Resolution Audio, Asynchronous
B.M.C. Audio has perfected the integration of computer-based music playback into an audiophile high-end system. The high-resolution USB input supports transmission of audio up to 192kHz sampling frequency at 24-bit resolution, delivering high-res audio from sources such as our PureMedia. Since B.M.C. Audio set a high audiophile standard with its proprietary SUPERLINK connection between its belt-driven CD transport and the DAC—known for its extremely precise digital audio signal transmission—the demand for high-quality computer audio playback was equally high.
Standard USB audio generates the music stream without a precise time base within the computer, an environment of fluctuating clocks and electromagnetic interference. This results in timing inaccuracies (jitter) that impose an unnatural quality on the music. However, high-end audio is about perfection or at least achieving the closest possible approximation. That’s why B.M.C. Audio took a much more sophisticated and precise approach by generating the music data stream directly within the DAC, immediately before conversion, clocked by an ultra-precise timing mechanism and unaffected by the electromagnetic noise of a computer.
Simply put: As long as the data remains in the computer or is being transmitted to the USB chip in the DAC1, only ones and zeros matter. However, once the data is transformed into a music data stream, the timing precision becomes crucial for sound quality. In this realm, the correct data at the wrong time is simply the wrong data. Only precise data at the exact right time ensures the optimal, natural musical experience.
By combining high-resolution digital audio with precise music stream generation in the new high-resolution USB chip, the B.M.C. DAC1 perfects digital audio for computer playback. This makes it the ideal companion to the already exceptional digital-to-analog conversion, utilizing the innovative CI-LEF analog circuitry, which inherently eliminates distortion rather than correcting it afterward through negative feedback. The fundamental elimination of timing errors on the digital level and distortion on the analog level eradicates all perceived disadvantages of digital audio—just as it surpasses the limitations of analog storage media.
With the new B.M.C. Audio high-resolution USB module in the DAC1, you can achieve the natural, effortless musical flow of pure analog playback—without its drawbacks—while benefiting from the convenience of computer audio and the silent operation of high-resolution digital recordings.
